Work Begins on New, Longer Range Boeing 777 | |
June 20, 2002 |
Workers at the Boeing airplane manufacturing facility in Everett,
Wash., loaded the first wing spar for the newest 777, the 777-300ER
(extended range) airplane into the automated spar assembly tool (ASAT).
Loading of the spar into the tool is the first step in the major assembly
process for the 777. The ASAT automatically drills, measures and installs
more than 5,000 fasteners into the spar. # # # Contact: Debbie Heathers 425-342-2902,
