The State has the controlling legal interest in any car or truck which is registered. This legal interest must be indemnified. There is no other legal basis for mandatory insurance. Without that legal interest, the operator is simply liable for the damages, using the common law to resolve any disputes, whether or not the operator has insurance. /s/ Paul Mitchell, Candidate for Congress http://supremelaw.com At 08:59 PM 12/13/97 -0800, you wrote: >On Sat, 13 Dec 1997, Paul Andrew Mitchell wrote: > >> Liability insurance indemnifies the >> State's interest in the car or truck; >> that is the underlying reason for making >> it mandatory on all "motor vehicles" -- >> read "registered, and thus operating in >> interstate commerce" by definition. >> >> Comprehensive is something else again, >> although you will probably have some >> difficulty getting this kind of insurance >> on a car, if it is not already registered. > >You fail to mention body damage, or property damage of others.
