->  SearchNet's   SNETNEWS   Mailing List

"it's" is a contraction for "it is".

  Example: It's a beautiful day today. (It really IS!)

"its" is the possessive form of "it".

  Example:  Its footprint was big.

"it" is singular neuter pronoun.

  Example: It had 2 left feet. (Clinton's foreign policy.)

We know, this looks backwards, since
most possessive forms end in "'s".

English is still one of the most powerful
languages on the face of the earth, and
we do it all with 26 characters. Not bad!
