The cold war is definitely over. It's a hot war now, albeit a covert one. Just ask the august Council of Long Beach. The long-range Hong Kong howitzers, upon landing on pristine beach sand, will surely have downtown Los Angeles, and neighboring USC, well within range. UCLA will be spared the inevitable bombardment, because their Star Wars engineers are brighter than anyone currently deployed at USC. (That's getting them back for defeating the Bruins in Pauley Pavilion, while I stood in the stands, overcome with shock circa 1970.) Bring on the howitzers! I'm ready to start writing "The Hot Zone" any day now. /s/ Paul Mitchell p.s. Was LBNS ever ceded to Congress by Act of the California Legislature? Just asking, you know; just asking. See 40 U.S.C. 255.
