MEMO
TO: Connie Nielsen, District Court Clerk
Garfield County, Jordan, Montana
FROM: Paul Andrew, Mitchell, B.A., M.S.
Counselor at Law
DATE: June 10, 1996
SUBJECT: People v. United States et al.
Today I received your two letters concerning the above case.
We are making arrangements now to get the $95.00 to you. We
assume that you will accept a United States Domestic Postal Money
Order in that amount. This is to inform you of our intent to PAY
TO the "Clerk of District Court" and to do so "Under Protest,"
because the Judge has required payment in "U.S. Dollars," and I
do not believe there are any of those in circulation at the
present time. We agree not to tender any "Freeman checks or
other like tender," and I assume that "like tender" is meant to
include "Federal Reserve Notes" because they were not otherwise
mentioned in the Judge's order.
Please inform the Judge that I will do everything I can to obey
his order to appear in the Garfield County Courthouse, Jordan,
Montana, at 11:00 o'clock a.m. on the 19th day of June, 1996, to
present proof and legal reasons as to why this Court has
jurisdiction to grant the relief requested. I am making
arrangements now for Co-Counsel and personal body guard to
accompany me. Please send us a copy of your local rules,
especially with respect to firearms on premises, with an invoice
as appropriate. If I cannot make the scheduled hearing, we will
negotiate with you for a mutually acceptable date. The travel
and living expenses will need to be raised from generous
benefactors. My time on this case will be provided pro bono,
until further notice.
Thank you very much for your expert assistance in this matter.
Sincerely yours,
/s/ Paul Andrew Mitchell

Counselor at Law
DATE: April 15, 1997
SUBJECT: People v. United States et al., #2721
Dear Connie,
I am attaching fax copies of our two recent pleadings requesting
reconsideration by U.S. District Judge Jack D. Shanstrom of his
remand ORDER dated April 8, 1997.
We mailed those pleadings yesterday. However, at present I have
no idea where the case file might be. Would you please do me the
courtesy of writing, calling, or faxing a short note to me, to
let me know if (and when) the case file has been delivered back
into your custody?
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
/s/ Paul Andrew Mitchell
