My understanding is that the Sabbatical, occuring
every 7 years, accomplished a number of things, from
the resting of the land to the forgiveness of debt.
The year after the seventh Sabbatical--Jubilee, the 50th
year--was the time for the restoration of property and the
freeing of slaves of Hebrew blood.
Perhaps the reason we've never freed any slaves in
America during Jubilee is because we've never had
any slaves of Hebrew extraction??????????????????
